Airport to Kandy (via central highway 119 Km and 2hrs. drive)

Our official representative meets and welcomes you at the Airport. You will proceed to Kandy in 2 hrs. drive along the central highway.

You will relax at the hotel, and if you are comfortable, you will do mini city tour. Explore about the last kingdom of Sri Lanka.

Kandy

Kandy located central part of the Sri Lanka and most of the travelers visiting to Kandy visit concern as holy city and Lord Buddha’s holy tooth store at the Temple of tooth relic (Dalada Maligawa). Kandy is the central province in Sri Lanka, hence needs to access the Kandy for visiting to other places in Sri Lanka. Kandy altitude 500 meters and day time climate 23 C – 25 C.

Kandy is the last kingdom and in 1815 British captured the Kandy and entire Sri Lanka with some local hired army support. British planters cultivated coffee and tea successfully in Kandy and Kandy district (central Part of the island) highly famous for spices such as Pepper, cardamom, clove and except Cinnamon all species grown in Kandy.

Kandy is in climatic terms, a world apart because of its altitude of 500m above sea level. Kandy is the last kingdom of Sri Lanka and it is power remains 355 years among the Sri Lankan kings. After the breakfast you will proceed to Hanthana Tea estate by vehicle, skipping the busy Kandy city. You will cycle along the Hanthana Tea Estate and explore the tea workers living style. you will explore the stunning landscapes and while you are cycling through the tea plantation, you will visit to tea workers house. You will explore the tea workers culture and customs of their community. You will experience authentic hospitality of tea workers and you will experience local snack at local house.

After the local experience, you will visit to Tea factory and you will experience tea manufacturing processing.

After the tea factory visit, you will visit to Temple of tooth relic and experience Budhist culture of Sri Lanka. In the evening you will experience traditional Kandy cultural dancing.

Kandy Esala Perahera

Kandy is also the venue of the Esala Perahera, easily the most colourful pageant of Asia, held July/August each year, for ten days in honour of the Tooth Relic. As the pageantry of the Esala Perahera unfolds through ten night each year, the city takes on the air of a torch-lit dreamland, complete with a hundred or more cololurfully caparisoned elephants, drummers and dancers, and chieftains in the rare colourful trappings of the old Kingdom. A stunning spectacle of piety and grandeur!

Day 02 Schedule

Approximately drive from the hotel to cycling starting point 30 min drive.
Approximate cycling distance is 55 Km and 7 - 8 hrs.
(1st part) Kandy Ceylon Tea Museum (starting point) to Galaha 20 Km off the beaten mixed technical cycling trail.
(2nd Part) Galaha to Deltota uphill cycling tour in “B” grade tar road (7 Km – 8 Km)
(3rd Part) Deltota to Taylors Hill is mixed terrain and approximate cycling distance is 30 Km.
(Hotel to Hotel cycle tour)

About 3rd Day

Our official representative meets you at the Kandy hotel (8.00 a.m.) and proceeds to Hanthana mysterious tea plantation. You will start the day 2 cycling tour from Hanthana Tea planation to Gala along the Hanthana mysterious tea planation. It is off the beaten cycling trail and approximately 20 km. You will enjoy the technical mixed cycling trail.

From the Galaha to Deltota you will cycle 7 Km - 8 Km in “B” grade road and it is uphill cycling trail.

Third (3rd) part of the cycling tour starts from Deltota and its continuous Taylors Hills. It is mixed terrain and you will cycle tar comfortable terrain, but you will cycle off the beaten cycling trails in between the 3rd part of the cycling tour. Cycling distance of the 3rd session is approximately 30 km.

You will explore the cultural difference and way of tea workers’ living style. You will experience tea workers’ snacks and customs while you are cycling in Kandy Hanthana tea plantation.

En route, you will take the Sri Lankan rice and curry lunch at a local restaurant.

In the evening you will relax at the hotel and enjoy the nature.

Day 04 Schedule

Approximate cycling distance is 55 Km and mixed cycling trail.

About 4th Day

After the breakfast you will cycle along the tea plantation to Founder of the Sri Lanka tea Estate. You will explore the great Scottish tea planter - James Taylor’s foot prints and Sri Lanka's first tea estate. You will do mini walk to explore the viewpoint and explore the stunning landscape.

You will continue the cycling tour along the tea plantation and it is 100% tea plantation cycling tour in mixed terrain. On and off, you will cycle off the beaten tracks as well.

There is no vehicle transfer in between the cycling tour and you will cycle from hotel to hotel.

You will explore the waterfalls in between the cycling tour. Approximately cycling distance 55 Km

In the evening you will enjoy the nature and relax at the hotel.

Mandaram Nuwara

It is a small tea planation village situated in Central province and boundary of Pidurutalagala mountain. Mandaram Nuwara literally means misty city and most of the day Mandaram Nuwara is covered by mist. There are many waterfalls around in Mandaram Nuwara. Key income source is tea plantation and majority of the population is Hindus.

Day 05 Schedule

Approximate cycling distance 60 Km and mixed climbing cycling trail (mostly in uphill cycling).

  • After the Breakfast start the cycling Nuwara Eliya (60 Km)
  • Cycling from hotel to hotel.
  • Cycling along the scenic tea plantations and explore the beautiful landscaping.

After the breakfast you will start the cycling along the tea plantation to Nuwara Eliya. It is mixed hard cycling trail and you will do mostly climbing.

It is hotel to hotel cycling tour and there is no vehicle transfer in between the cycling tour.

Elevation starts from 1290 meters to 2048 meters. 100% of the cycling trail based on tea plantations. Approx. cycling distance 60 Km. from Mandaram Nuwara to Nuwara Eliya, you will cycle off the beaten tracks and comfortable tar roads.

Cycling to Nuwara Eliya (England Countryside) is an exceptional experience and while you are cycling, exploring the beautiful landscapes. En route you will have an integration with tea workers, experience way of tea picking, tea workers culture and living style. You will experience British planter’s inheritance to Sri Lanka and footprints.

Temperature gradually reducing and average temperatures would be 20 C.

Nuwara Eliya

Nuwara Eliya is the land of peace in Sri Lanka and most of Sri Lankan believes Nuwara Eliya is the ideal place relaxing and chilled. Nuwara Eliya literally means “lighting city” and folktale says Nuwara Eliya named by Great king Maha Rawana. Nuwara Eliya city and Sri Lanka hill country reflect with epic love story of Rama, Ravana and Sitha.

Nuwara Eliya is the highland city in Sri Lanka and it is altitude 1880 meters above the sea level. Day time temperature 15 C – 18 C and climate, landscapes similar to Europe. Hence people used to call “Little England” because British governors built the Nuwara Eliya similar to England.

Nuwara Eliya district is the key city producing pure Ceylon Tea, and it is over 90% of the total tea production contributing by Nuwara Eliya district. There are 33 cities in Nuwara Eliya district and most of the population is Tamil–Hindus.

Day 06 Schedule

Approximate cycling distance 50 - 55 Km and 8 - 9 hrs. (with walking tour).
(1st part) Nuwara Eliya to Horton Plain Entrance 30 - 35 Km (hard mixed terrain).
Horton plains walk approximately 2 hrs.

(2nd Part) Horton plains to Boralanda 24 Km (medium mixed terrain)
Boralanada to Ella transfer by vehicle (40 Km and 2 hrs. drive)

After the breakfast cycling to Horton Plains and along the tea plantations. Nuwara Eliya to Horton plains cycling tour is the hardest and adventurous cycling tour in Sri Lanka. Elevation starts in Nuwara Eliya (1886 meters) to Horton Plains (2300 meters) and approx. cycling distance is 50 Km. Nuwara Eliya to Horton plains cycling tour is the highest point cycling trail in Sri Lanka and it will be your epic experience of cycling in Sri Lanka. Nuwara Eliya to foot of the Horton plains is mixed 22 Km cycling trail and Horton Plains climbing distance is approximately 8 Km. it is the hardest part of the “Nuwara Eliya to Ella” cycling tour.

From Nuwara Eliya to Horton plains entrance cycling distance of 30 km.

Nuwara Eliya to Horton plains cycling tour is most beautiful cycling trail in Sri Lanka. En route you will visit strawberry farm and refresh with fresh strawberry snack. You will cycle along the dairy farms and you will explore the Nuwara Eliya city view point over the hills. stunning landscapes impulse you to keep paddling over the hills.

You will do 8 Km trekking tour in Horton Plains and it is a soft nature walk exploring endemic flora and fauna. Horton Plains is highly bio-diversity hotspot in Sri Lanka. You will relax in Near the Bakers waterfall and you will enjoy the nature.

After the Horton plains trekking tour, you will refresh with hot tea and snack. After the refreshment and you will continue Nuwara Eliya to Ella cycling tour along the Horton Plains Forest boundary. You will spot sambar deer in the forest. while you cycling from Horton Plains to Boralanda approx. distance 24 Km and it is medium mixed cycling trail.

Nuwara Eliya to Ella's cycling tour will be ended in Boralanda city and you will continue to Ella by vehicle. It is 2 hrs. drive from the Boralanda.

Horton Plains

Horton Plains National Park is a highly biodiversity location in Sri Lanka and land extension is 3160 hectares. There are many endemic flora and fauna species available in Horton Plains. In 1988 Horton Plains converted as a national park and it is elevation 2100 m–2300 m above the sea level.

Horton Plains found 24 species of mammals, 87 species of birds, nine species of reptiles and there are over 30 species of endemic flora available in Horton Plains.

4 major rivers starting from Horton Plains (Mahaweli, Kalani, Walawe and Kalu rivers).

  • After Breakfast cycling along the Ella countryside to Badulla.

After the breakfast you will start the Ella city exploration cycling tour from your hotel and it is mixed terrain.  Approximate cycling distance 70 Km and you will cycle along the greenish tea estate to Badulla. You will explore the stunning landsacapes in Uva province.

You will cycle along the Spring Vally Tea Estate and it is the most beautiful tea estate in Uva Province. You will explore the beauty of the Sri Lanka. En-route you will visit to Kombukara Nature Pool and you will enjoy natural pool bath. You will do mini walk to Dragonfly waterfall and explore hidden beauty of the nature.

After the natural pool bath you will retun to Ella by cycle to vehicle. it is depnds on your interest.

Ella

Ella is a small city in Uva province and smallest touristic city in Sri Lanka but one of highly tourist attraction city. Ella became highly popular tourist place in a decade ago and because of scenic train journey. Most of the travellers are visiting Ella to explore about the British masterpiece construction of Ella's nine-arch bridge. Highly attractive things to do in Ella are experience Kandy to Ella's train tour, explore the nine-arch bridge and Ella Gap landscapes.

After the breakfast (8 a.m.) leave the hotel and proceed to Ella town. You will explore the stunning Ella Gap and its landscapes.

9.30 a.m. start the Ella to Yala cycling tour from Ella town and it is soft cycling trail based on the back roads. You will explore 1st part of the Ella to Yala cycling tour stunning landscapes and you will cycle along the tea plantation.

Once you pass the Ella city limits, you will enjoy the dry zone landscapes and you will cycle along the national park buffer zone. If you are lucky enough, you might spot wild elephant near the elephant fence and dancing peacocks cheering keep paddling. Yala national park belongs to the dry zone and in ancient time Yala is one of the important port in Sri Lanka.
