Day 01 Schedule
  • Welcome you at the Airport and proceed to Matale. (2 hrs drive)

About 1ˢᵗ Day

Our official representative meets and welcomes you at the Airport. You will proceed to Matale in 2 hrs drive along the central highway.

You will relax at the hotel, and if you are comfortable, you will do a mini nature walk around the hotel premises. You will explore the knuckles forest range flora and fauna while you are walking around the hotel area.

In the evening, you will meet the Bike Tours cycling guide and crew, and discuss your entire tour itinerary. You are feeling free to adjust the starting time, and distance every day according to your comfortability.

Matale

Matale was a safe house during the last kingdom of Sri Lanka and Kandy kingdom used Matale during the British invasion to protect the Sri Lankan king and tooth of a relic by the British.

Matale is a multi-cultured city near the Kandy and Matale bordering to Knuckles Mountain range.

Matale key income source is spices and most of tourist are visiting Matale while they are traveling to Kandy because of the spices. Majority of the population is Sinhalese and there are 7 cities in Matale district.

Day 02 Schedule

Matale to Kandy approximate cycle distance 60 km and mixed terrain.

Elevation

About 2ⁿᵈ Day

After the breakfast you will start the cycle from hotel to Kandy along the greenish tea plantation. It is mixed terrain and approximate cycling distance 60 Km. on and off you will cycle in scenic technical terrain as well. Then you will enjoy the nature and stunning landscapes. It is wonderful and challenging experience as well.

En route, you will experience tea picking with local ladies and the way of tea workers living.

Matale to Kandy cycling tour will be ended in Wattegama Railway station and because then after you need to cycle in busy cities. Therefore, you will proceed to Kandy by vehicle and after the lunch you will do city tour. You will visit to Temple of tooth relic and experience Buddhist customs. In the evening you will visit to Kandy cultural center and you will experience traditional Kandyan dancing.

Kandy

Kandy located central part of the Sri Lanka and most of the travelers visiting to Kandy visit concern as holy city and Lord Buddha’s holy tooth store at the Temple of tooth relic (Dalada Maligawa). If you want to visit other places in Sri Lanka, you need to go to the central province of Kandy. Kandy altitude 500 meters and day time climate 23 C–25 C.

Kandy is the last kingdom and in 1815 British captured the Kandy and entire Sri Lanka with some local hired army support. British planters cultivated coffee and tea successfully in Kandy and Kandy district (central Part of the island) highly famous for spices such as Pepper, cardamom, clove and except Cinnamon all species grown in Kandy.

Kandy is in climatic terms, a world apart because of its altitude of 500m above sea level. Kandy is the last kingdom of Sri Lanka and it is power remains 355 years among the Sri Lankan kings. Last king of the Sri Lanka was Sri Wickrama Rajashine and in 1815 the British army captured the Kandy and entire Sri Lanka with some coastal area hired local army.

Every year at the time of the August full moon, colourful parade take place to offer the blessing of Lord Buddha to people and country.

Day 03 Schedule

Approximate cycling distance 46 Km and 5 -6 hrs.
Kandy town to Ceylon Tea museum (starting point) 10 Km (20 - 30 min drive)
Ulapane to Kithulgala distance of 35 Km and drive 1–2 hrs.

About 3ʳᵈ Day

Bike Tours in Sri Lanka’s cycling guide will meet you at the Kandy hotel (8.00 a.m.) and proceed to the Hanthana mysterious tea plantation. You will cycle along the Hanthana Tea planation to Ulapane. Hanthana tea plantation is the most beautiful and romantic place in Kandy. En route, you will visit to local tea works house and experience the way of living, cultural differences and hospitality.

You will refresh with a traditional snack at tea workers’ house and continue the cycling tour to Ulapane. It is mixed terrain and you will cycle approximately 62 km.

After the Ulapane, you will proceed to Kithulgala by vehicle (2 hrs drive).

En route, you will take the Sri Lankan rice and curry lunch at a local restaurant.

You will report to Rafting point and experience the thrilling, adventurous rafting. It is 1–2 hrs rafting activity and you will check into the campsite.

In the evening, you will relax at the campsite and you will enjoy the BBQ dinner. It is a romantic moment get isolated with partner and enjoy the dinner in the nature near the river bank.

Kithulgala

Kithulgala, blessed with the Kalani river and inland water based adventure centre, is Kithulgala. The experience of White Water Rafting in the picturesque Kelani River, there are 7 rapids covering 3 major rapids and 4 minor rapids (Grade 2 -3 rapids). Every rapid gives you great fun… epic excitement…!

Day 04 Schedule

Approximate cycling distance 48 Km and hard-core climbing, cycling trail (5 -6) hrs.
Hatton to hotel drive duration 30 min.
Hatton Hotel to Adam’s peak distance 35 Km and 1 hr drive.
Return drive from Adam’s peak 1 hr drive

  • After, the abseiling and check out from the hotel.

About 4ᵗʰ Day

7 a.m. you will enjoy the breakfast and 7.30 a.m. proceed to Hadun Ella waterfall with Abseiling team. It is 1 hrs drive with hike to Hadun Ella summit and after the safety briefing, you will experience the abseiling. you will explore the beauty of the surroundings in180 degree view Kithulgala countryside. Abseiling is thrilling and adventurous activity in Kithulgala. You need to climb down 110 feet along with the waterfall.

After the abseiling you will return to campsite with abseiling team (1 hrs drive) and refreshing with a local snack. you will checkout from the campsite and continue the adventure cycling tour in Sri Lanka.

You will cycle along the tea plantation and through the countryside in hard mixed terrain. approximately cycling distance 48 Km. Kithulgala to Hatton cycling tour based in countryside, tea plantation and while you are cycling, you will explore the stunning landscapes. Kithulgala to Hatton cycling tour mostly based on hard - uphill terrain but stunning landscapes brings wow experience…! It may keep interesting about paddling the cycling trail.

Kithulgala to Hatton elevation (281 meters to 1319 meters)

You will check into the hotel around 5 - 6 p.m. and you will relax at the hotel.

You will take an early dinner at the hotel around 7 p.m. and you will leave the hotel 1 a.m.

It is 1 hr drive from the hotel and you will meet the local tracker foot of the Adam’s peak. You will start the hike with a local tracker and it is 5 hrs hike (3 hrs reach to peak - climbing and 2 hrs returns to foot of the Adam’s peak). You will experience the sunrise and it is a phenomenal experience. Most of the travelers interesting explore Sunrise and you will explore the stunning landscapes in Adams peak mountain range.

You need to wear the winter cloth in the Adam’s peak.

You will return to the hotel next day around 8.30 a.m. and you will relax at the hotel.

The Sri Pada (Adam’s Peak) Season December - May

The Sri Pada (hiking the Adam’s peak) season begins with the rising of the full moon on uduvap poya day in December goes on for five months till Wesak full moon the next year. Thousands of devotees flock to the summit of the 2,234 meters high ‘Samonala Kanda’ (Mount Samonala) to worship the imprint of a foot on a huge granite rock. For the order generation, it is a dream fulfilled, while the young people make the journey mostly for the adventure of the overnight climb mingled with piety.

Buddhists call the mountain ‘Sri Pada’ (Sacred Footprint) and believe it to be the footprint of the Buddha, while Christians and Muslims claim it to be the footprint of Adam. Hence the name Adam’s peak. The place has therefore become sacred followers of all three faiths.

Sri pada is the fifth highest mountain in Sri Lanka, at the south-western corner of the central Hills. The word ‘Samonala Kanda’ connotes ‘Mountain of God Saman’, the guardian deity of the Sabaragamuwa Province, including Sri Pada.

You will return to the hotel around 8.30 a.m. and after the breakfast you will relax at the hotel. If you are fit enough after the lunch at 2 p.m. you will do cycling in Hatton Tea plantation about 20 Km–25 Km. it is an optional activity but if you need to relax, you can relax at the hotel.

Day 06 Schedule

Approximate cycling distance 60 Km and hard climbing, cycling trail (5 -6) hrs.
Nanu Oya to Nuwara Eliya distance of 10 Km and 20 min drive

  • After the Breakfast (8.30 a.m.) proceed to castlereigh reservoir (30 min drive).
  • Start the cycling to Nuwara Eliya along the tea plantation.
  • Hatton–Nuwara Eliya cycling tour will be ended in Nanu Oya town.
  • En route refresh with pure Ceylon tea.

Elevation

About 6ᵗʰ Day

After the breakfast you will check out from the hotel around 8.30 a.m. and start the cycling from hotel to Nuwara Eliya along the Castlereigh reservoir , the Tea plantation. It is hard mixed terrain and you will do mostly uphill cycling. 90% of the cycling trail based on tea planations.

You will cycle Hatton (elevation 1129 meters) to Nanu Oya - Nuwara Eliya (elevation 1609 meters) uphill terrain and approx. cycling distance 60 Km. from Nanu Oya to Nuwara Eliya needs to cycle in the main road and it is busy terrain.

Cycling to Nuwara Eliya (England Countryside) is an exceptional experience and while you are cycling, exploring the beautiful landscapes. En route you will have an integration with tea workers, experience way of tea picking, tea workers culture and living style. You will experience a British planter’s inheritance in Sri Lanka and footprints.

Temperature gradually reducing and average temperatures would be 20 C.

Nuwara Eliya

Nuwara Eliya is the land of peace in Sri Lanka and most of Sri Lankan believes Nuwara Eliya is the ideal place relaxing and chilled. Nuwara Eliya literally means “lighting city” and folktale says Nuwara Eliya named by Great king Maha Rawana. Nuwara Eliya city and Sri Lanka hill country reflect with epic love story of Rama, Ravana and Sitha.

Nuwara Eliya is the highland city in Sri Lanka and it is an altitude 1880 meters above the sea level. Day time temperature 15 C–18 C and climate, landscapes similar to Europe. Hence people used to call “Little England” because British governors built the Nuwara Eliya similar to England.

Nuwara Eliya district is the key city producing pure Ceylon Tea, and it is over 90% of the total tea production contributing by Nuwara Eliya district. There are 33 cities in Nuwara Eliya district and most of the population is Tamil–Hindus.

Day 07 Schedule

Approximate cycling distance 50 - 55 Km and 8 - 9 hrs. (with walking tour).
(1st part) Nuwara Eliya to Horton Plain Entrance 30 - 35 Km (hard mixed terrain).
Horton plains walk approximately 2 hrs.

(2nd Part) Horton plains to Boralanda 24 Km (medium mixed terrain)
Boralanada to Ella transfer by vehicle (40 Km and 2 hrs. drive)

  • After Breakfast early morning cycling to Horton plains.
  • En route visit to strawberry farm and refresh with fresh strawberry snack.
  • Trekking in the Horton Plains in flat terrain (8 km)
  • continue cycling to Boralanda (downhill).
  • Proceed to Ella by vehicle.
  • Overnight stay in Ella.

About 7ᵗʰ Day

After the breakfast cycling to Horton Plains and along the tea plantations. Nuwara Eliya to the Horton plains cycling tour is the hardest and adventurous cycling tour in Sri Lanka. Elevation starts in Nuwara Eliya (1886 meters) to Horton Plains (2300 meters) and approx. cycling distance is 50 Km. Nuwara Eliya, to the Horton plains cycling tour, is the highest point cycling trail in Sri Lanka and it will be your epic experience of cycling in Sri Lanka. Nuwara Eliya to the foot of the Horton plains is mixed 22 Km cycling trail and Horton Plains climbing distance is approximately 8 Km. it is the hardest part of the “Nuwara Eliya to Ella” cycling tour.

From Nuwara Eliya to Horton plains entrance cycling distance of 30 km.

Nuwara Eliya, on the Horton plains cycling tour is the most beautiful cycling trail in Sri Lanka. En route you will visit the strawberry farm and refresh with fresh strawberry snack. You will cycle along the dairy farms and you will explore the Nuwara Eliya city view point over the hills. stunning landscapes impulse you to keep paddling over the hills.

You will do 8 Km trekking tour in Horton Plains and it is a soft nature walk exploring endemic flora and fauna. Horton Plains is a highly bio-diversity hotspot in Sri Lanka. You will relax in Near the Bakers waterfall and you will enjoy the nature.

After the Horton plains trekking tour, you will refresh with hot tea and snack. After the refreshment and you will continue Nuwara Eliya to Ella cycling tour along the Horton Plains Forest boundary. You will spot sambar deer in the forest. While you cycling from Horton Plains to Boralanda approx. distance 24 Km and it is a medium mixed cycling trail.

Nuwara Eliya to Ella's cycling tour will be ended in Boralanda city and you will continue to Ella by vehicle. It is 2 hrs. Drive from the Boralanda.

Horton Plains

Horton Plains National Park is a highly biodiversity location in Sri Lanka and the land extension is 3160 hectares. There are many endemic flora and fauna species available in Horton Plains. In 1988 Horton Plains converted as a national park and it is elevation 2100 m–2300 m above the sea level.

Horton Plains found 24 species of mammals, 87 species of birds, nine species of reptiles and there are over 30 species of endemic flora available in Horton Plains.

4 major rivers starting from Horton Plains (Mahaweli, Kalani, Walawe and Kalu rivers).

Day 08 Schedule

From Ella Hotel to Demodara railway station 20 min drive.
Demodara to Ohiya Railway train tour 1 hr 30 min–2 hrs,
Ohiya railway station to Babarakanda waterfall cycling trail 24 km.
Babarakanada waterfall walk 1.5 Km.
Babarakanada waterfall to Kalupahana junction cycling distance 10 km.
Belihuloya to Ella 2 hrs drive and 60 Km distance.
Total cycling distance approx. 45 Km.

  • After Breakfast proceed to Demodara railway station at 8.30 a.m. (20 min drive)
  • You will reach to Ohiya railway station at 11 a.m.
  • You will cycle to Babarakanda waterfall along the Devil staircase (technical terrain)
  • You will do a mini walk (1.5 Km) to Babarakanda waterfall, and you will explore the nature.
  • You will take a local lunch at a restaurant.
  • After the lunch, proceed to Ella by vehicle (60 Km and 2 hrs drive)
  • Overnight stay in Ella.

Elevation

About 8ᵗʰ Day

After the breakfast you will proceed to Ella (Demodara) railway station and you will boarding at 9.20 a.m. it is approximately two hours train journey and you will explore the most scenic train journey in Sri Lanka and you will explore the 9 arch bridge, stunning landscapes in Ella. You will reach to Ohiya railway station around 11 a.m.

You will cycle to Babarakanda waterfall exploration along the Devil stair case. It is the most challenging and beautiful cycling trail in Sri Lanka. Ohiya to Babarakanda waterfall is 21 Km mixed technical terrain and you will enjoy the nature and stunning landscapes over the hills. You will cycle along the Udaweriya Tea plantation, but it has gone to the bush because of poor maintenance. It is a pristine location, and this is hard technical terrain.

You will do 1.5 Km nature walk to Babarakanda waterfall and its hidden beauty in the nature. Babarakanda waterfall is the highest waterfall in Sri Lanka and if you like, you will shower at Babarakanda waterfall.

After the waterfall exploration, you will continue the cycling to Kalupahana junction about 10 Km and it is mixed comfortable terrain.

Day 7 cycling tour will be ended after the lunch and proceed to Ella city by vehicle. It is 60 Km distance and 2 hrs drive.

Ella

Ella is a small city in Uva province and the smallest touristic city in Sri Lanka but one of the most highly tourist attraction city. Ella became a highly popular tourist place in a decade ago and because of scenic train journey. Most of the travellers are visiting Ella to explore about the British masterpiece construction of Ella's nine-arch bridge. Highly attractive things to do in Ella are experience Kandy to Ella's train tour, explore the nine-arch bridge and Ella Gap landscapes.

Ella city elevation 1041 meters and day time temperature around 24 C–26 C and Ella is another historically important city in Sri Lanka. Legend of Great Ravana’s based on Ella and Nuwara Eliya.

Day 08 Schedule

8.a.m: leave the hotel after the breakfast and hike the Ella Gap 10–20 min drive.

  • After Breakfast proceed to Ella city and explore the Ella Gap.
  • Cycling from Ella to Yala along the countryside. (120 Km)
  • Lunch at a local restaurant
  • Evening relaxes at the hotel.

About 9ᵗʰ Day

After the breakfast (8 a.m.) leave the hotel and proceed to Ella town. You will explore the stunning Ella Gap and its landscapes.

9.30 a.m. start the Ella to Yala cycling tour from Ella town and it is a soft cycling trail based on the back roads. You will explore 1st part of the Ella to Yala cycling tour stunning landscapes and you will cycle along the tea plantation.

Once you pass the Ella city limits, you will enjoy the dry zone landscapes and you will cycle along the national park buffer zone. If you are lucky enough, you might spot a wild elephant near the elephant fence and dancing peacocks cheering to keep paddling. It is hotel to hotel cycle tour and from Ella to Yala cycling trial is a soft mixed trail.

Approximate total distance 120 km and you can cycle any comfortable distance.

  • Sri Lanka is a warm country and day time average temperature would be 33 C–36 C and relative humidity of 60–65%. Chances of sunburn are high with prolonged exposure, so carry plenty of sun-block and guard against sunstroke.

No! all national parks are under the environment protection of law. Therefore, law applies to locals and foreigners as well. None of us allowed to collect or keep such a thing or take it out of the national park. My Ceylon Adventures / Bike Tours in Sri Lanka accountable to Wildlife conservation law and if Government made an investigation, we are liable to provide all information. Therefore, please do not remove or collect any flora or fauna from the national park.

If you are not comfortable with hotel accommodations or its services or delivery of activities, then we can negotiate with hotels or such service providers. If it is serious service laps, then you might be able to demand the refund as well. We will do needful co-ordination and represent you. Every group cycling tour starts, we will organize the Socialized dinner or lunch to get to know each other. We will give basic social self-respecting guidelines to all participants prior to start the tour. Because we need to ride as one family supporting to each other.

If you injured in a remote area, then we can take you nearest hospital by our supporting vehicle or we connected with 1990 emergency ambulance service and immediately we will arrange the Ambulance transferred to nearest hospital.

All our guides and escort leaders given basic First Aid training. So, they will give the basic first aids until you transfer to the hospital.

We will contact your relation that you mentioned on “Guest information sheet” and acknowledge the incident, impact, present health situation and future treatments (if information available). We will share your doctor contact details with your relation for further inquiries. Meantime, we will acknowledge your embassy and insurance company as well to notify about you.
